Post Christmas

Christmas always means becoming a bit of a road warrior. Grandchildren in Memphis and grandchildren in Alpharetta means visits to both places. This year I did have a new truck to drive - a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. It's comfortable and gets great gas mileage. All four of the grandchildren are growing up so fast. It wasn't so long ago that you carried them from place to place. No longer . All the grandchildren are developing their own personalities and their own likes and dislikes. It's a joy to see them grow into their own self.

December Sunday

December weather has returned to normal in these parts. After a warm and drought stricken 60+ days, rain finally came last week and today. Now we are back to normal weather - 45 degrees and rain. Colder weather on the way.

Sunday Morning

Daylight Savings Time has blessed us again this morning. We fell back. The dogs are not amused. Up at 5, expecting to eat at 6. The first couple hours of the day were not happy ones . But now they all nap with full bellies. And it's a beautiful day.

The traveling Wall

A couple of weeks ago, in Fultondale, AL., the traveling version of the Vietnam Memorial was in town for a few days. Whenever one of the Walls is close by, I always go. It's great that people take the time to remember those who died in that war and those of us who fought the war should always remember our comrades who are forever young.

So, today started with sunshine and rain, concurrently. Then progressed to gray skies and rain. But, the tree guys showed up and are now taking down the severely leaning trees behind the house.

Meanwhile, in the garden:
It's been a great spring for iris and it's turning into a great summer for our day lilies.
