It started raining early this morning, so , when the first dog wanted out at 5 Max and I stepped out into wind and rain. You wake up quicker that way. Then, at 5:45 Beau decides it's time to head out - more wind and rain. Rocky didn't go out until around 6:30. No wind and rain. The smarter dog.
But we are missing one dog. Our girl Scout has been in the hospital since Friday with a serious liver problem. She is 17+ years old and has lived with us for 14 years. I'll talk to the vet tomorrow and we will see what is what.

The pollen is back
The yellow stuff is on my truck and will be soon on everything else. This week master gardener Susan and her assistant (me) have begun the task of cleaning out the flower beds and eventually putting in new pine straw where needed. Our lot is about 1.3 acres and we have a lot of flower beds and a lot of trees. Put the two together and you have a lot of work for an old man. Flowers are already blooming here

Dreams
I never remember dreams. But, my wife does. This morning she recounted the latest installment of Susan's weird dreams.
She was driving through Brookside, Alabama, along Five Mile Creek and she noticed a car following her. Driving the car was the singer Andrea Bocelli and with him was his wife. They stopped by the Russian Orthodox church (there is one in Brookside) and Susan asked him where they were going. Andrea said there were going to their cabin they had purchased in the mountains above Brookside and would she like to come along. Of course she would. So, she followed Andrea and wife to their cabin where they drank wine and talked about his music.
The end.

2020
Made it to another year. Yeah me! Here on the estate, we have been going through a period of a lot of rain. But, today is sunny, breezy and cool. The first part of the week is expected to be cold. We may have low temps in the teens. It is January after all.
In a week I have a birthday. Gifts will be accepted.
Bought a new trail camera and caught this really big bird raiding the bird feeders by our house.

Post Christmas
Christmas always means becoming a bit of a road warrior. Grandchildren in Memphis and grandchildren in Alpharetta means visits to both places. This year I did have a new truck to drive - a 2017 Honda Ridgeline. It's comfortable and gets great gas mileage. All four of the grandchildren are growing up so fast. It wasn't so long ago that you carried them from place to place. No longer . All the grandchildren are developing their own personalities and their own likes and dislikes. It's a joy to see them grow into their own self.

December Sunday
December weather has returned to normal in these parts. After a warm and drought stricken 60+ days, rain finally came last week and today. Now we are back to normal weather - 45 degrees and rain. Colder weather on the way.

Sunday Morning
Daylight Savings Time has blessed us again this morning. We fell back. The dogs are not amused. Up at 5, expecting to eat at 6. The first couple hours of the day were not happy ones . But now they all nap with full bellies. And it's a beautiful day.
